In addition to what Mark suggested, if you do not want 0s (zeros) to display, you can do this by TOOLS|OPIONS|VIEW ... and uncheck the Zero values box. You are unchecking the box to signify your intention that whereever the value is 0 (zero) it will not be displayed.

With the cell containing the formula, =SUM(D9:Q9), selected choose the Format | Cells... menu command, click on the "Custom" category and enter 0;-0; in the "Type" field.
