how do i protect only a few cell in one worksheet, not the whole worksheet?

Excel Facts

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple

Hi Lorrie:
You protect individual cells by FORMAT|CELLS|PROTECTION ... Locked
However you must protect the Worksheet to effect locking of the cells. You protect the worksheet by TOOLS|PROTECTION|PROTECT SHEET ... with an optional password. Without protecting the worksheet, locking of the cells does not take effect.
