Drop Down list in cell question How'd they do that?

I have received a spreadsheet & don't know how they did the drop down boxes.

Various cells display a drop-down box with custom lists when clicked. But they did not use a dropdown from the control-toolbox because, among other things, I can't see a control-source list anywhere in the spreadsheet. And there are no macros.
I thought I knew Excel but this is a new one on me.

Excel Facts

Ambidextrous Undo
Undo last command with Ctrl+Z or Alt+Backspace. If you use the Undo icon in the QAT, open the drop-down arrow to undo up to 100 steps.
I'd put my money on Data Validation. Go to the cell in question and click on Data (Menu)-> Data Validation. If the worksheet isn't protected, you should be able to see the creator's tricks. Incidentally, a neat resource...
