hey everyone

i have a PowerPoint link to Excel issue that no one has been able to figure out here at home, or on the MS Power Point "communities" message board.

Shall I post??.......its not just Excel, I want to make sure I'm "playing nice in the sand box" by posting something that is more than just Excel related.

Thx

Excel Facts

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
Scenario:

1. 6 separate PPTs have ~18 slides each.
2. Each slide has a chart and title that link to two
different Excel files.
3. Each week both Excel files are automated to pull in a
large amount of data.
4. The data updates the charts in Excel.
5. This time, when I go to open each PPT (with the two
excel files already open), and select "Yes" to update
links, I get an error that some or all of the sources
can't be found.
6. But, when I go into the PPT, and goto Edit, Links,
there are only two links (one slide) that appear.
7. Double but, when I go to each linked object, I can
still right click and update - so they must be still
linked; I can also double click, and it takes me to the
source file, so I know they are linked.
8. How do I ensure I can auto update links each week? Are
the excel files somehow breaking the links when the macros
are executed to bring in new data?
9. This is frustrating me since I had already reset all
the links in the PPTs since I had to move the source files.

Any thoughts on this one?
.
