I just realized that I can alter a number (with a formula) by using "Goal Seek', but the only drawback is that it can only be done one cell at a time. Any way around that?

Thanks

Anthony

Hi Anthony,

I assume when you referred to only allowing one cell at a time you were referring to the input cell (the dependent variable), but that you want Solver to be able to handle multiple input variables. Actually you can do this by giving Solver an input Range of cells (e.g., B4:B7), and Solver will modify them in such a way as to produce the optimum value you are seeking. See in the Excel helps the topic:

Guidelines for designing a model to find values with Solver

This is a VERY powerful feature, and one that is not widely recognized.
