I know this probably a simple option but I've been looking for a good solution for years!

Is there an easy way to turn off the cell highlighting that happens when a user clicks on the worksheet?

At the moment, I position the highlighted cell behind a graphic - but this is not the best solution I'm sure.

Any ideas?

Hi
If you do not want these cells selected you can lock them out of selection.
Highlight the cells in question, right click,
choose format cells, choose protection, make sure the locked option is checked.
Close that
Now right-click your Worksheet Menu Bar up top and choose control toolbox.
From that pop-up menu click on the icon, looks kinda like a triangle, in the upper left-hand corner.
That will put you in design mode.
Click on the icon just to the right'
Has a hand pointing to a sheet.
That will open the properties.
If it does not say sheet this or that then click anywhere on your worksheet.
In the properties list you will see an option called enable selection. Choose xlUnlockedCellsOnly
Now close all that, click on the triangle again to take you out of design mode.
Back to the menu bar. Click on Tools,Protection, protect worksheet. Add a password if you like. Now users will be unable to select any cells which you have locked. That is the only way that I know of without covering the cells up with an image box.
You can cover up the whole sheet with an object from the drawing menu and make it invisible if you'd like to.
Have Fun!

Hi TsTom:
T H A N K S !
for a detailed step by step instruction on how to make some of the locked cells unselectable. By making the cells unselectable the viewers can be spared a lot of frustration ...since otherwise they can click on it and then they are rebuffed that they have had no business selecting that cell.

The 4th step down lost me. "right-click your Worksheet Menu Bar up top and choose control toolbox." I have right-clicked on every bar/strip at the top of my screen and am not finding a pop-up menu with a triangle icon. Can you give a screenshot somehow?
