Hi again!

Here's the deal for example

Cell C1 contains a string that varies.

We'll say for this example string in C1 = 4-7

The string in C1 can vary from 4-1 or Col 4/Row 1 to 254-2000 Col IT/ Row 2000
In essence, the range D1:IT2000
There will always be a dash seperator.

A formula in Cell A1 will use this value as
follows.

Formula I can't get to work:
A1 = The value of the cell in Col 7/Row 4
or in this case A1 = G7
Using the value of C1 which is 4-7

I am new to Excel and am trying to learn alternatives to VBA when applicable.

Thanks again Glad Posters!

Tom

Cannot find anything in help for this.

How to calculate loan payments in Excel?
Use the PMT function: =PMT(5%/12,60,-25000) is for a $25,000 loan, 5% annual interest, 60 month loan.
Since you are new to this ..

I suggest you to use index and match function..

both the functions are powerful and can be made dynamic..

if you want to see how you can use index and match function download file nos.24 from my website http://www.pexcel.com/download.htm

i hope this simple example file can be helpful to you.
