Hey folks,

I know how to use VLOOKUP, but how do I use it the other way around. I want to look in a range of cells in the rightmost column, and when I find the thing I want, to return the value in the left most column. Sort of VLOOKUP reversed.

Can anyone help me?

Excel Facts

Can a formula spear through sheets?
Use =SUM(January:December!E7) to sum E7 on all of the sheets from January through December
Use Index/Match

e.g.

=INDEX(A1:C100,MATCH(D1,C1:C100,0),1)

where A1:C100 is the table your looking at

MATCH(D1,C1:C100,0) find the row number from the criteria presented in D1

and 1 being the Column number
