The Autofilter on a spreadsheet ('97) at work here seems to have a limit of about row 2800. Is this right or is there a bug? The problem seems to disappear in Excel 2000. Is there a limit or is there something wrong with the spreadhseet?

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
Hi ammdumas:
I am using Excel 97, and I just checked use of AUTOFILTER with some 2900 records (although I used just a single column), it worked fine -- it did not tell me anything about a limit of 2800 records. How large is your table? Could it be a memory issue? .. Just Wondering!

Table is some 5000 rows by 32 columns. For some reason, if you physically select the entire table by cell(i.e. dragging as oppose to selecting the row or column headings) it works. I thinking a memory thing too or maybe something within the table is keeping it from searching past a certain point.

I think it's 1000 unique values max.....

so maybe your 2800 rows contain 1800 items which are duplicates....

just tested with 1 to 1200 in cells A1 to A1200..... only 1 to 1000 shows up
