My spreadsheets all open with disabled macros. The message text that used to ask me if I wanted to enable them does not run. I cannot find a help topic that deals with this problem.

Select a hidden cell
Somehide hide payroll data in column G? Press F5. Type G1. Enter. Look in formula bar while you arrow down through G.
Check your security level. If you're using 2000 or XP, it must be set to HIGH. Other wise, in Tools, Options, make sure that "Protection against macros" is checked

I cannot find the "protection against macros" setting you spoke of. Can you provide more information?
