I have cells that have data that is too long to view all at once. I don't want this data to run over the next blank cell. Is there a formatting setting that will prevent this from happening. I just want the see what is visible until it reaches the next cell over, then I want the text to stop being visible.

Why can't spreadsheets drive cars? They crash too often!
If you goto:
format>cells>alignment and check shrink to fit, it will keep all the info in that cell.
It will however, if there is a lot of info shrink the info so small that you will not be able to read it in the cell alone. You will have to select the cell to see the info.
