This is a very low priority question.
(but one that's been bugging me for quite some time).
I don't know when or how or why this happened, but sometime ago, I noticed that when i drag some formatted cells with the format painter, and it comes time to copy over the format to some new cells, my mouse point stays as a mouse point as opposed to the little paintbrush. Can anyone tell me the quick fix to get it back? I've combed the Tools/Options section and found nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think you're confusing Excel with Word.

so, you select cells, and click on the format painter and you don't get a paintbrush? or you no longer have the format painter as an option to choose from?

here's a real stab in the dark, no matter what the issue.....go to VIEW:TOOLBARS:CUSTOMIZE:
on the commands tab, choose format
in the right hand box, scroll down to format painter. Drag the icon to the toolbar .....next to the old icon....high
light the old icon, right click and then delete it....maybe it got corrupted somehow.
