In column A I have about 10,000 dates in this format: 06-Mar-02

In column B I want these dates to read 030602. How can I change the format?

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
AJ...should have mentioned that I already tried that...for some reason that doesn't do the trick...any other ideas?

Select your "dates", choose the Edit | Text to Columns... menu command, and press [ Finish ]. Now apply the previously recommended format.

The data type of a value is established upon data entry. Evidently, these "date" values were imported as Text. To get Excel to recognize 'em as true dates you could have edited each cell individually, but that would be laborious. Edit | Text to Columns... forces Excel to edit the cells and re-evaluate the data type assignment.
