how do I divide a sheet in two separate parts between row 20 & 21. I want to widen the columns above 20 and not affect the ones below 21.

Excel Facts

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().
Hi gumby

Mark is right, the column width is uniform from row 1 to row 65536. However you can merge two adjacent cells in rows 1 to 20. I assume you are designing a form where there are more columns in the bottom half than the top. The only way to simulate this is to merge some cells. Be aware though that it is not so easy to copy or paste into merged cells.

too right...

if, however, it's just for presentation purposes :

try splitting your data ranges into two seperate sheets, making each's column widths as appropriate

then on the "tools" toolbar, use the camera to take a snapshot of each sheet and then paste both images to a single sheet

with a bit of acquired skill via practise, you can simulate a single sheet with different column widths......

one caveat though, no two caveats :

1) snapshots are limited to page size so may not be practical with large data ranges

2) you'll be farting around more often than Terrence and Phillip before it becomes second nature....

still, in the absence of anything more positive, this might be your only option
