Evaluate for empty cell

I'm getting a type mismatch error when I check for an empty cell in a row
which has a date in it. The following attempts have produced the type
mismatch error:

do while .Range(strDateCell).Value = vbNull
do while IsEmpty(.Range(strDateCell).Value) = false
do while .Range(strDateCell).Value< format("01/01/1980","mm/dd/yyyy")

I'm SURE that this is so unbelievably simple, I just can't think of it right
now.

TIA
Ron

Using a mouse in Excel is the work equivalent of wearing a lanyard when you first get to college
Do While Range(strDateCell).Value <> ""

This will do while the value is not empty. Is that what you want?
