page numbering

I have a formula that works perfectly in Excel and I want to apply it to PowerPoint, specifically the slide numbers.

=IF(A1<9, "BLANK", A1-8)

How do I properly substitute a formula like this where A1 = Slide Number? What do I do in PowerPoint to make it work?

Excel Facts

Test for Multiple Conditions in IF?
Use AND(test, test, test, test) or OR(test, test, test, ...) as the logical_test argument of IF.
