A Line-Column Chart: How do I specify which series should be

I have been trying to make a chart that shows one data series as a Line. Then I want to add 2 or 3 data series as Columns. However, Excel chooses arbitrarily which data series to make Column or Line. I seem to have no choice in the matter. How do I choose?

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
Well, you DO have a choice.

Click on the serie that you want to be a column, and in the chart toolbar, select that chart type. Now, select the other serie, and do the same, but this time select a line type.
