im not allowed to use code as advanced as that at this level - its a school project marked by really dense examiners who hate ne thing above activecell.offset !

Could i use a select... case statement and make
it equal to a named cell rather than text?

    So Select Range("PasswordEntry")

    Case Is = Sheets("C/R").Range("Password")
    run code

    case else

reset the contents of "Password entry"

    End sub

    Will this work?
    Case Is = Sheets("C/R").Range("Password").Value

    or

    Case Is = str$(Sheets("C/R").Range("Password"))
