Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).

Try this combination

Press ALT+SHIFT+P, this is the short cut to font size
Press TAB a few times to get across to the font fill icon
Press arrow down

- You see the colour box drop down?

Now press arrow down / right

Select the colour you want to fill the cell with

Press enter

Your done, a bit long winded but knocks out the use of a mouse if that was your aim, but sorry not so much a short cut, but is just as fast I assure you.

Hope that helps you a bit or offers an alternative

Kindest possible regards

Maybe,

CTRL-1, to bring up Format cells dialog

then either CTRL-TAB or CTRL-SHIFT-TAB as required until the 'Patterns' tab is active

ALT-C

arrow to the colour you want, SPACE to select it

TAB two times to activate the OK, then RETURN to complete

And, btw, after you've done one, F4 can be used to repeat
