Hi,

I'm trying to set-up a look-up database for another spreadsheet. I have a materials list that is continually being altered / changed & I want another spreadsheet, a job costing sheet, to be able to refer to the materials list & choose items from that list & insert the item with it's associated details (description, price, unit of measure - all in different columns).

Does that make sense? I hope so :+)

Excel Facts

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
Hi

Sorry do not get all that but first Excel can be a database right! or is right!

So use say vlopup in table array format to check for what you want or Hlooup or match whatever to report as required.

bit sketchy as not totally sure, can i suggest preaking down you post to one simple question them post the next until you have all,

HTH
