What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
no probs.I wish someone found this solution for me in the last 8 months i'd been looking.

Hi Dan and anno:
Even without the benefit of a macro, one can use Advance Filter and not Auto Filter in a protected Worksheet.
anno: your suggestion is pretty neat, and especially with the use of the data as an array, one can not change the data in any part of the array, unless of course one deletes the whole array.
