Protect individual cells only

I am trying to create a worksheet, where I need only a few individual cells to be read-only. How do I protect these cells and leave the others where you can input information?

Who is Mr Spreadsheet?
Author John Walkenbach was Mr Spreadsheet until his retirement in June 2019.
Use the format>cells>protection command. Cells are 'protected' by default. Unprotect the cells you desire. Then set protection in the tools menu.
