I have a formula that can generate a negative number ie (a-b)*.2 = c. If c is a negative number I want a 0 to be placed in that cell. Is this possible? The cell is formated for currency.

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).

I don't know your exact formula, but

=MAX(0,(a-b)*.2 )

would give you what you want. This would be more eficient that an IF statement for this.
