Excel Facts

Workdays for a market open Mon, Wed, Friday?
Yes! Use "0101011" for the weekend argument in NETWORKDAYS.INTL or WORKDAY.INTL. The 7 digits start on Monday. 1 means it is a weekend.
Can't you just right click, choose Format Cells, select Custom on the Number tab and change the format in the Type box (replacing / with -)?

thanks guys but it won't budge. I highlight the cell and have done the formula and the custom one and it does not move but stay's the same. Is there something wrong with the dates? they are all in this format 9/12/2011

looks like they are formatted as text - if you have a column of those to convert try using "Text to columns"

Select column of dates then

Data > Text to columns > Finish

Now they should be "real" dates that you can format any way you want
