I have hit a button several times and cant get out of excel or even continuing working on my spreadsheet. A little 4 way arrow pops up than I am locked into one cell, if I move the cursor it highlights all the ranges in all directions and I cant do squat. All other buttons or Icons become inactive. Anyone Know how I can avoid this and what triggers it?

Excel Facts

Repeat Last Command
Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.
I get the same problem.
excel sometimes just starts dragging and selecting different ranges.

I had it yesterday during a presentation.
sorry. no solution from me. just another ponderer.

I encounter that problem quite often myself,
i always blame it on my mouse. When it happens try (if your using a scrolling mouse)
clicking the scrolling wheel and it should
be fine. Well fine after you get back to
where you originally were.
