i have a file that has multiple worksheets of data imported from an external financial reports system (SAP). i call these my 'input sheets.'
each input sheet has tens of thousands of rows of data (e.g., 35,000 rows to 63,000 rows). a single 'Outputs' sheet summarizes the data in each of the inputs sheets. in the Outputs sheet, i retrieve the input data using an OFFSET function.
the Outputs sheet is compact. however, the inputs sheets is making the file close to 10megs and calculations are taking a long time. when i upload this tool to the network for other users, it will take 5 minutes for each calculation.
what can i do to maximize runtime speed as well as minimize the size of the inputs sheets?
note: i want to avoid pivot tables because i do not want to add complexity for other users. for those adept at pivot tables, it's powerful yet not so cumbersome...however, with novice users, pivot tables are not worth the trouble of training.
thanks in advance.
