Hi everyone - my first post!

I am a commercial real estate professional and am building an excel database of property information + pictures of the building. I want to be able to add a picture into the cell and lock it in there so that when I go to filter the list by, address for example, the picture stays with the addresses and doesn't just sit and get all mixed up. hopefully i make sense here!

thank you in advance for any help that you can provide. i use Microsoft excel 2010.

Excel Facts

Waterfall charts in Excel?
Office 365 customers have access to Waterfall charts since late 2016. They were added to Excel 2019.
Insert/photo/picture from file...
adjust size of cell to the size of your choice eg width 25 Height 100.
drag the picture to fit inside the cell.
Format Picture... (right click on pic, submenu...)
Properties click on "Move and size with cells"

This done you can filter, sort and do whatever you please such as shown here:

hi cyrilbrd thanks for your reply. im doing exactly what you're saying but it's not staying with the cell when I go to move it.

- insert cropped picture to fit the cell
- right click
- high properties
- format picture
- properties
- clicked on MOVE AND SIZE WITH CELLS
- close

doesn't stay with the cell.. any ideas?

cool,
unlock ALL cells from your workbook then highlight cells with pics, then Format Cells.../Protection/Locked, then lock your workbook (Tools/Protection/Protect Sheet...) and select the following:
Select unlocked cells
Sort
Filter

select paswword, enter twice, click ok.

Now you won't be able to select the pic move them ect...

Is this what you want?

Hi cyrilbrd,

Thank you so much for helping. I got the sheet to lock but it looks up the entire sheet. What I'm trying to do is only lock the column with pictures but still be able to fully edit all other cells. Is this possible? Thank you!

Hi,

yes it is possible, I suggest whenever you have time to download the sample I posted on the second post (http://uploading.com/files/96d3a16b/...nguyen10.xlsx/)...

You may consider this, Select ALL cells, unlock all (Format/Cells/Protection do not click locked nor hidden), then select ONLY the column with the pics (ColumnA per example), lock it (Format/Cells/Protection click locked), then lock your file and choose
"select unlocked cells"
"sort"
"filter"
password, click OK.

You can filter at your convenience, but you can't move delete of alter the pics...

Hope this is close to what you would like to achieve.

Cheers!
