How to add a percentage to a number

Ok I'm rather new at Excel (what I do know has been self taught) but now I need help. I've tried for a couple years to figuare out how to do the following with no luck.

I need to add 67% to the base rate for some insurance quotes. For example Mr. Smith's base rate is $250. According to state law the insurance company can add up to 67% to the base rate for his monthly premium. I want to give Mr. Smith a 'worse case scenerio' how do I get Excel to do this for me?

In reality I have to do this to over 250 employees in a group and don't want to manually figuare each one - it takes forever!

2 easy options:

1) with a formula

=a1*1.67

...where a1 houses the original value

2) all at once:

a) put 1.67 in a spare cell & copy it
b) highlight the range os cells you want to change
c) go to edit | paste special | select multiply & hit enter.

...the method gives you the results, the second changes your original values.

T - these are the great ones, with a very simple answer! Assuming the $250 is in cell a1, the formula would be =A1*167%

This will put the answer in the cell with the formula. If you'd like to set it up with the option to easily change the 67% level, place the 167% in another cell out of the view of the spreadsheet, for example DD1, then your formula becomes =A1*DD1. If the 67% changes, you simply change the number in DD1 and all the formulas are changed at once.
