Hi Excellers:
I have Main.xls which has various customers information.
I have 1001.xls to 1500.xls workbook (about 500 customers workbook, information are save base on customer company code)which summaries information of customers from Main.xls.

Example of Main.xls:
A B C D
1 Co. code Co. name Address Year end
2 1001 A Ltd No.1Road 31/12/02
3 1002 B Ltd No.2Road 31/8/01
4 1003 C Ltd No.3Road 31/10/01
5 1005 D Ltd No.4Road 31/12/02
up to
1500

Example of 1001.xls :
A B
1 Co. code 1001
2 Co. name A Ltd
3 Address No. 1 Road
4 Year end 31/12/02

The data currently are update weekly due to change of customers information. The volume of data is about 5mb.
If anyone can tell me how to keep this link alive this would be greatly helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
so what's happening to the links now, that they'not being retained? i guess it's happening when the dependent sheets get updated(?), but as far as i know any external references in the 'main' workbook should be retained. do the updates have the same area (ie range of cells)? have you tried F9 after an update? not trying to be smart with all the questions - just looking for some more information.

Layout for Main.xls:
A B C D
1 Co. code Co. name Address Year end
2 1001 A Ltd No.1Road 31/12/02
3 1002 B Ltd No.2Road 31/8/01
4 1003 C Ltd No.3Road 31/10/01
5 1005 D Ltd No.4Road 31/12/02

Layout for 1001.xls and other customer file are:

A B
1 Co. code 1001
2 Co. name A Ltd
3 Address No. 1 Road
4 Year end 31/12/02

The frequent update area is at B1 to B4, which is dependent information from Main.xls.
Can anyone please help me in this?
Thank you.
