Formulas Not Automatically Calculating

Using Microsoft Excel 2007 and all of a sudden, my spreadsheets are not automatically calculating the formulas. It does not matter if I have other workbooks open or not. I still get the problem. It does not happen 100% of the time to make it even more complicated.

- Calulation set to auto in Excel Options.
- No VBA functions being used. I can the worksheet summing 1 + 1 and get the error periodically. It does not have to do with the spreadsheet being too complicated.
- Even if I can hit Ctrl-Alt-F9 to force the formulas to calculate, it won't work.

Excel Facts

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.
Just wondering, are you sure the cells are not formatted as Text somewhere along the way? As an experiment, for some of the formulas that are not calculating, select the range, and hit Ctrl+H. In both the Find What and Replace With fields, enter the equals sign " = " (without the quotes). Click Replace All and then hit Ctrl+Alt+F9 and see what happens to those cells.

I did what you suggested (highlighted all cells, replaced all the = signs and then hit Ctrl+Alt+F9) and don't really see any difference. The issue does not always happen so I don't know if this fixed it or not. I can tell you that for years, this same spreadsheet did not have issues and only 2 months ago, did it start to have issues when we moved the file locally from the server and then put it back on the server only to have the same issue. I'll let you know if this fixes it or not. Thanks for your help.
