how to change a date 4/13/02 as a true date value as presently a isnumber format is showing a returning false. I need to use this in he pivot table.
Need to use this to create a run chart.

Lets say that A houses the "old date" values.

Insert a new column next to your date column.

    In B2 enter:

    =DATEVALUE(A2)

Give a double click on the fill handle in the lower-right corner of B in order to copy this formula down.

Edit|Copy new date values in B and carry out Edit|Paste Special >Values over B.

    Hi Saurabh:
In addition to Aladin's suggested solution, you could also convert the pseudo-date number into a true number by clicking on any blank cell, then EDIT|COPY, then highlite the cells of interest and then EDIT|PASTE_SPECIAL|Operation>Add|OK
