# Thread: summing a column of "x"'s

1. Hallo , I hope someone can help - I thoguht i could figure this one out myself but can't get it.

I have a column with about 30 rows to it.
In some of the rows i have placed an x in the row.
I need a formula to do a count of all the rows where there is an "x"
I thought of sum(subsitute((b1..b30),"x",1)) but it doesn't seem to work

Thanks
