Re:protect sheet and protect workbook. I want to be able to have my sheet protected and still have the user be able to hide rows.
Is this possible ?

when you protect the sheet select in the cheq boxes "format rows"
and that ill do it

No ... cant' do!
You might be able to do through a macro -- by unprotecting the sheet just before allowing the user to hide rows and the turning the sheet protection back on.

Hi brettvba:
I need some help understanding this one. I am using Windows 98 and Excel 97. When I go to protect the Worksheet, I do not have access to any check boxes that would allow me to format rows.

Brettvba: Select format rows cheq box, ? Where is that cheq box?

goto Tools,Protection,Protect Sheet
Then the box pops up to enter a password etc
and under the text
"Allow all users of this worksheet to"
Fifth cheqbox down is Format Rows

although im not sure if this is a new feature in xp (thats the ver im using)
so it may not be there not sure on that one.
