With the year in B4 (say 2014) could I trouble someone for a formula to show the first Monday in the year.

I'll have to have a look and see exactly what the choose function is doing here.

My sincere apologies for the delay in getting back to you both and again my grateful thanks for taking an interest.

What am I thinking of I've forgotten to thank you as well.
It must be an age thing so without putting too much info on the web I am the wrong side of 50.
Your solution is another option.
So as they say my cup runneth over with options.
