I am importing data from my AS400 in Excel, the dates are coming into the spreadsheet as numerics. How do I convert these numbers into a date format? i.e. 3202002 should be 3/20/2002, how do I get the number to that format??

keeping both dates when doing analysis

Thanks for your response!

I just bought the book "pivot table crunching" by MrExcel and look forward to doing my analysis using pivot table charts and tables.

Both dates are important to determine weekly trends.

Since I need both dates should I:
#1 use text a column creating 2 date ranges
#2 Fomat new column mdy

or import the start of each week only and do the same?

I want to be able to show graphs, charts etc using pivot tables but also want the dates in order when doing analysis.

Thanks again,
Art

How to show all formulas in Excel?
Press Ctrl+` to show all formulas. Press it again to toggle back to numbers. The grave accent is often under the tilde on US keyboards.
Do TextToColumns>Delimited>Other:"-" as the delimiter>on the next screen choose the Date format ie MDY for both columns. This should give you your dates.
