I tried several iterations and I cannot get it to work. I would like to get a count of how many data items fall within a certain range.

For instance, I need a count of how many items have a value between 5 and 15.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).

In E1 enter: 5
In E2 enter: 15

When you say between m and n, you need to be specific -- There are 4 possibities:

>= m AND< n
> m AND<= n
> m AND< n [ often called exclusive between ]
>= m AND<= n [ often called inclusive between ]

=COUNTIF(A1:A10,">"&E1)-COUNTIF(A1:A10,">="&E2)

gives you a count based on exclusive between.
