I try typing the stock symbol ACN into a cell and CAN appears. What's causing this and how can I avoid this ?
Thanks,

How to change case of text in Excel?
Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney

Look into Tools|Autocorrect. That must be the culprit.

Your spell checker is doing this by changing the most common typing errors.

Goto Tools > Auto Correct.
