i want to highlight lowest value on a range of cells say
A1:F1

i dont see an option in the cond formating to do this do i need to type a formula?

I use the conditional formatting with two conditions:

1. Condition 1: enter the formula =(isblank(A1)) and select patterns, no color. The cell will remain non-shaded until a value is entered.

2. Condition 2: enter your other formula with desired color, etc.

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
Aladin,

=AND(ISNUMBER(A1),A1=MIN($A1:$F1))works too. Both formulas are identical with the exception of ($A1:$F1) versus (1:1). Please comment on the differing logic as I'm eager to learn.

Thanks,
Jim

$A1:$F1 will restrict cond format to columns A and F in all rows to which the cond format is applied, while 1:1 would apply to all columns in all rows to which the cond format is applied. If column F is the limit, the former should be used.
