OK try this old chestnut then......

I'm using excel 2000, and quite often when I try to change the font size or type (with either VBA code, or via the drop downs at the top of the page) I get the "error in your program" message, and then the illegal operation window, the first bit of which reads:
"EXCEL caused a general protection fault
in module DIBENG.DLL at 0003:000000f3." etc etc.

anyone...

even if it's to steer me in the right direction .

Ta

Sykes

Excel Facts

Fastest way to copy a worksheet?
Hold down the Ctrl key while dragging tab for Sheet1 to the right. Excel will make a copy of the worksheet.
Found this article at Microsoft.

I've marked this as solved, although I'm not sure exactly how.
Tom suggested a couple of sites (thanks for that) and the MS support site suggested running Dr Watson (by clicking start, run then typing drwatson.)
Dr Watson didn't find anything wrong, but after I'd farted around with it for a bit, I revisited Excel and the problem seems to have disappeared!
