Need your help on formulae

Hello there,

I'm creating a leave tracker for my team and got struck in middle.

My query - I need a formula to count the data entered in a cell (C2) as 3,6,8.

3,6,8

<tbody>
</tbody>

Appreciate your response at the earliest.

=LEN(SUBSTITUTE(C2,",",""))

There is a small problem with this formulae - when I enter value as 1 it count as 1 and when I enter value as 1,2 it count as 2 but when I enter a value as 1,2 (blank space) or 1,2, (blank space) it get count as 3 which is incorrect.

Please help!!!
