Evening all,

I know =NOW and =TODAY are termed volatile and I read recently that =ROW and =COLUMN are to a certain extent

is =INDIRECT also volatile ?

I recently posted an =INDIRECT with two =ROW functions solution which was copied to nearly 4000 rows but when I hit F9, it still just took a milli-second to calculate

I've been using INDIRECT a lot, and hadn't thought if it might affect performance....

thanks
Chris

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).

Yes, INDIRECT is volatile. Too many of them will cause expanding recalc times.
