I am trying to autofilter a column, in which each cell contains a list of several items.
I go to Customdoes not containand one of the items in the list.
autofilter does not filter out all the cells containing the item.
I could not find any info on limitations in a cell, using autofilter.
(if each item in the list is in a seperate cell the filter works)

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)
Evening,
Perhaps you need to consider using the wildcard function?
Try using Contains *your search*
Hope this helps

Hi Tyre,

for the instances where the unwanted rows are still visible, is the row number indictor blue (ie indicating it's within the filtered info) ?

if it's not, it means that the row was not included within the filter range : this would suggest that you have some blank rows in your data and the autofilter is just being applied to the first block of info (fix by resetting your auto filter: either highlight your entire range of info or just highlight the respective columns to capture everything)

Hope this helps,
Chris

One observation : I was just replicating a list of names :

Chris
Chris_
_Chris
Harry
Sally
John
Paul
George
Ringo

When I applied autofilter, in the "is equal to" options there was only a single instance of "Chris".... not 3.

Choosing this option brought back all 3 instances of "Chris", with the leading and trailing spaces.

I wasn't expecting this !
