# Thread: Where is my hammer? I'll fix this problem.(Formula) (Resolve

1. Can someone help me with the following problem? It has been eating my lunch for the past couple of days.

In J10 I have =J9+I10 I need this to only work if I9 is >0 otherwise it would show the value of J9. I10 also has a formula of =IF(V10-V9 <0, "0", V10-V9).

Thanks for all the help

2. In J10 I have =J9+I10 I need this to only work if I9 is >0 otherwise it would show the value of J9. I10 also has a formula of =IF(V10-V9 <0, "0", V10-V9

In J10 enter:

=SUM(J9,(I9>0)*I10)

Change your formula in I10 to:

=MAX(0,V10-V9)

IF is not always the best thing to use .

3. Skyhook, (with respect for Aladin's post), here's another option for future reference-

=IF(I9>0,SUM(J9,I10),J9)
