If statement

Hi, I have a list of dates which I've converted to showing only the month using =Text(a2,"mmmm") but some of the cells in the column are blanks and I've tried to use this formula

=if(isblank(Text(a2,"mmmm")),"",(text(a2,"mmmm")))

but the value returned is January! Is there any way that I can get the result to be a blank?
