Excel 2013: Subtracting dates

I am subtracting dates in Excel 2013. This works fine, except where the result should be 00:00 (hours:minutes), which appears as -00:00. How can I make this appear just as 00:00?

Well, I've found a solution of sorts. Because I'm only interested in hours and minutes I'm adding a second to the result, which removes the negative:

IF(A9<=TODAY(),B9-C9+"00:00:01","")

No idea why this would be necessary, though?
