Excel Facts

Copy a format multiple times
Select a formatted range. Double-click the Format Painter (left side of Home tab). You can paste formatting multiple times. Esc to stop
Depending on whether you want to change the forecolor or backcolor, you change as appropriate

Thus sample code changes the background to green when it is checked and red when it is unchecked

Code:
Private Sub CheckBox1_Click()
    If CheckBox1.Value Then
        CheckBox1.BackColor = RGB(0, 255, 0)
    Else
        CheckBox1.BackColor = RGB(255, 0, 0)
    End If
End Sub
