Sorry if this has been talked to death, but I cannot find a solution after researching for a little over a week.

Basically, I had code that created a connection from Excel to Access (and vice versa), and it worked for years. Upgraded to Office 2010 and it no longer works. Ok, I understand that DAO is no longer supported and I need a reference to the Office 14 Access Database Object as the replacement. Ok. Now what?

Dim db As Database
Dim rs As Recordset

Excel doesn't recognize these Dims. It says user defined type not recognized.

What more do I need to do?

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.
