Hi,

Have an easy one for you... Have two columns with dates, need a formula that will say if they match or not, only thing is that one column has a timestamp to the right of date (e.g. 11/20/2014 8:12:57 PM) and the other column is just "11/20/2014"

What formula could put together to at the same time only read the date minus timestamp in column 1 then tell me if it matches column 2

Excel Facts

Last used cell?
Press Ctrl+End to move to what Excel thinks is the last used cell.
Assumed your Date with Timestamp in A1 and just Date in cell B1, put this in C1:

=INT(A1)=B1

the results will produce TRUE if found match

Cheers

Could you explain why this works, I'd like to learn!

Dates and time are recorded in Excel as a number. It appears formatted in a date/time format as selected by the user.

for example the date Nov 20, 2014 is represented in Excel as the number 41963. The time portion of any date time sequence is represented as a decimal portion of a 24 hour day. ie. 6 am is 0.25; noon is 0.5 and 6 pm is 0.75. In the example you showed. The integer portion of the date time value shown is the date value alone.

So 6am on Nov 20, 2014 would be 41963.25
