variable drop down lists

I have a need to change the list dependent upon the value in another cell.

For example, if the value in cell B2 is "shirts", the list in the next cell needs to be sizes M,L,XL. If the value in cell B2 is " shoes" the list in the next cell needs to be sizes 6,7,8,9,10.

Is this possible?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
Have you played around with the Data Validation (Data tab, Data Tools section, Data Validation)?
I did something similar on an old worksheet, and I'm trying to find it. But I remember one part was on the SETTINGS screen to Allow: Lists (this is a drop down menu choice), and then you can use an IF statement in the SOURCE box that shows up below (after you select LISTS).
I'll keep looking for my worksheet, but that might give you something to try in the meantime.

Sophie, many thanks, I shall play around as you suggest.
