I have a very unique situation. I am in the mechanical estimating field and do material take-offs on isometric drawings for clients. Each material take off is based on a set of material specifications supplied by the client. As I do the material take-off, there may be several hundred drawings that have the same materials. I need excel to look at the data list I have in my take-off and sum like material quantities and then delete the duplicate rows. I believe I am on the right track but there are flaws I cannot figure out. That is my first inquiry. My second inquiry is how to look the material specifications up based on criteria I enter as I do my take off. I plan to enter the material specifications in an excel array. As I enter the material excel will look in the array and return the correct material specification it must return. Any help would be appreciated. I will enclose a material spec and an example auto combine take-off I started playing with if needed.

Thanks,

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
